Rights holder co-ordinator – Glasgow 2014

CLOSING DATE: May 16, 2013

WHEN the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games launch in July 2014, it will be the largest event to be staged in the city to date. It’s a massively challenging task to successfully stage an event that will involve over 6,500 athletes and officials, over one million ticket sales, across 11 days and 21 venues with a broadcast reach to 71 countries across the Commonwealth. There’s a lot of work to do in the lead up to and during Games Time to ensure that Glasgow stages an athlete-centred and sport focused Games that leaves a positive lasting legacy for all involved.

Working within the Broadcast Operations department, the Glasgow 2014 Organising Committee has an opportunity for a Rights Holders Co-ordinator. The successful applicant will assist the Head of Broadcast Operations and the Broadcast Integration Manager in working with the Host Broadcaster to deliver the requirements of Glasgow 2014 Rights Holder Broadcasters.

The main responsibility for the delivery of these requirements will be through the Host Broadcaster and the Broadcast Rate Card but there are many dependencies on other functional areas within the Organising Committee such as Venue Design and Overlay, Catering Cleaning and Waste, Accreditation and Transport. The Rights Holders Co-ordinator role will ensure that there is the correct level of co-ordination between each of these OC Functional Areas (including Broadcast Operations), the Host Broadcaster and the Rights Holder Broadcasters.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate experience of working within a broadcast environment at a multi-sport, multi-venue event with a particular emphasis on servicing the needs of Rights Holders. Demonstrating strong interpersonal skills with a flair for relationship management, the successful candidate will have competent IT skills in the use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Outlook).

Working towards an event like the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games won’t be an ordinary job. It will take hard work, long hours and a drive to overcome the challenges of successfully staging a world-class event in the public eye. Each member of the team will find that their role will evolve in the run up to the Games and adaptability is a key requirement for every applicant. You’ll literally be part of a team that’s making history.
