SENIOR COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (MEDIA RELATIONS)

SALARY RANGE: BAND 7 £31,072 – £40,964 + ON-CALL ALLOWANCE

THIS is an excellent opportunity for an experienced communications professional to join Scotland’s largest health board.

You’ll join us at an exciting time. Within the next 12 months we will open two major new hospitals and transfer 10,000 staff from four existing sites into one super campus. The communications team will be at the heart of this major modernisation programme delivering a comprehensive public and staff information and engagement strategy.

Next year will also see the integration of health and social care which will also involve the development and delivery of effective public and staff communications.

Our communications team run a very busy Press Office and your key responsibility will be to deliver effective media relations. You will also have the opportunity to support the breadth of communications activities within the team including social marketing campaigns, development of engaging web and other digital content and content creation for NHSGGC’s various award winning staff and external publications.

You will be a confident and motivated individual with a degree in journalism, PR/media/communications or significant experience in a communications environment.

Essential to the post is a minimum of five years’ current experience as a journalist or in a media/communications/PR role. Strong communication and writing skills are also a must. Knowledge of the NHS or the public sector would be an advantage.

The post also involves out-of-hours media cover on a rotational basis.
