ALAN Price, managing director of Peninsula Scotland – the employment law and health & safety consultancy – is advising business owners and their management teams to take advantage of the growing confidence surrounding businesses in Scotland, by focussing on recruiting fresh talent.

Alan Price said today: “It is encouraging to see that, following the economic downturn, businesses – including our clients in Scotland – are starting to grow in confidence, looking towards building a brighter future.

“Confidence levels are at the highest they have been for a few years, encouraging businesses to hire fresh talent, which increases client confidence, whilst restoring the faith of Scottish job-seekers.

“A most effective methods to help develop and grow a business is through recruitment.

“There are many benefits to hiring new talent, including helping to fill existing skills gaps, introducing new ways of thinking and diversifying the workforce.

‘What’s more, it allows companies to tap into talent, who are currently under-utilised, building their skill-sets and knowledge, which will serve to benefit business owners by building a strong and loyal team of employees.”

Alan continued: “Whilst jumping on this wave of confidence is important and a great step forward for Scottish businesses, it is imperative that business owners and their management teams are recruiting the right people for the job, following correct protocols and procedures for recruiting and inducting new members of staff.

“This is particularly true for smaller businesses who do not always have the man-power, nor the experience in how to manage larger scale recruiting and the understanding of what the implications can be if the recruitment process is not fair to all candidates who wish to apply.”

He concluded: “At Peninsula, we believe in and support the success and development of Scottish Businesses, which is why we have just launched our new office in Glasgow in order to assist Scottish Business owners with employment law, HR and Health & Safety issues that companies of all sizes face every day.

“We want to help businesses put their best foot forward and ensure that they are safeguarded from any legal implications, which they may not currently be aware of.”
