MACDONALD Pittodrie House, the luxury holiday, business and wedding destination on the outskirts of Inverurie, has come under new management with the appointment of the Dutch hotelier, Pim Wolfs, as general manager.
A talented leader and motivator, with over 20 years experience in both boutique and large chain venues, Pim Wolfs comes to the group after six-and-a half-years at Raymond Blanc’s flagship hotel and internationally renowned cookery school, Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, on the outskirts of Oxford.
With a firm focus on one-to-one customer service, Pim aims to capitalise on his experience in the luxury market, to establish a new brand of excellence at the Aberdeenshire heritage hotel.
He says: “Le Manoir is synonymous with outstanding dining and the highest class of hospitality, making it the perfect training ground for my new role.
“Both properties share a similar ethos, especially in areas like sustainability, local supply chain and seasonality, the only difference being one has made the journey to excellence and the other is aiming to get there.
“At Macdonald Pittodrie House we have our own supply of natural fresh water from the Bennachie Mountain and our own garden providing some vegetables and herbs and as part of Macdonald we believe passionately in sourcing our food ethically and locally.
“This venue has enormous potential that I am eager to exploit and proud to be associated with.”
He continues: “Our history and location, in 2,400 acres of woodland estate, rivals any hotel in the UK and has to be central to the business strategy.
“When you come up our mile-long tree-lined driveway and approach the hotel against the Bennachie mountain backdrop – it is a true wow factor.
“It is my job to ensure that we extend that feeling inside the venue in every way possible.
“To that end, I will invest in and retain the very best staff, driving up our standards even further – in terms of dining, we are currently 2 Rosettes, I am aiming for a third and becoming recognised with an AA red star has to be a long-term goal.”
Stephen Williams, regional managing director, adds: “Pim’s appointment demonstrates the ongoing commitment of Macdonald Hotels to place great people at the core and heart of our business.
“His focus on driving the quality and standards to an even higher level alongside his understanding of what the customer wants and needs, will truly enhance the overall guest experience at Macdonald Pittodrie House.”
