Media Release: Going is good for racecourse’s new PR agency

AN award-winning Scottish public relations agency is enjoying a fantastic run of form, securing a number of high-profile clients, including Musselburgh Racecourse.

Holyrood PR, named Scotland’s Outstanding Small Agency at last month’s CIPR awards, has now been appointed to work with the racecourse over the coming year.

That success comes after the ten-strong agency also picked up a number of other high-profile Scottish PR projects, including the relaunch of Tigerlily in Edinburgh, the imminent launch of G1’s Cotton Club Casino in Glasgow and the City of Perth Winter Festival.

Musselburgh Racecourse appointed Holyrood PR after a competitive process and becomes the latest big name business to work with the agency, whose other clients include Bupa, CALA Homes and Scottish Water.

Scott Douglas, who co-founded Holyrood PR in 2002 along with fellow journalist, Raymond Notarangelo, said: “It’s been a fabulous few months for us after taking on several high-profile campaigns and then winning one of the most prestigious awards at our industry awards ceremony.”

Scott added: “Now being appointed to work long-term with Musselburgh Racecourse is a fantastic way to round off what has been an outstanding year. It’s a great reward for our team’s extremely hard work.

“Musselburgh quite rightly put in place and exhaustive vetting process to find the right agency, because powerful PR is absolutely key to the number of visitors the racecourse can attract.

“They wanted to be sure they chose the right agency with the necessary experience, understanding and creativity to deliver on their objectives. We’re thrilled with this opportunity to work with a fantastic client and can’t wait to get started.”

Musselburgh Racecourse is firmly established as one of the UK’s most stylish racecourses, hosting 27 flat and jumps meetings each year, including the hugely popular Stobo Castle Ladies Day and the Edinburgh Cup.

Holyrood PR will help raise awareness of the five-star VisitScotland venue, which is already popular with racing enthusiasts and is increasingly becoming a draw for both families and corporate clients.

Events such as and the imminent Totepool New Year’s Day Race Meeting and the Scottish Cheltenham Trials will all help further raise the profile of the racecourse, recognised as one of the most forward-thinking courses in the country.

Aisling Johnston, marketing manager for the racecourse said: “The horse racing enthusiasts, families and businesses that come to Musselburgh Racecourse have a great day out. We know we have a fantastic product and we now want to demonstrate this to help attract even more visitors to the racecourse. That is where Holyrood PR will come in.

“All of the agencies involved in the pitching process were impressive, but Holyrood PR showed extra creativity and energy that made the difference. Meanwhile, the video service they offer is compelling and helped set them apart.

“We’ve got a fantastic racing program lined up in 2016, with a number of new exciting features that we believe will attract new visitors. We’re excited about working with the Holyrood PR team to promote that programme and further grow our business.”

In September, Holyrood PR helped Montpeliers Edinburgh Limited to promote the re-opening of Tigerlily, the group’s flagship hotel, restaurant and bar after it underwent a £500,000 refurbishment.

The renowned venue enjoyed widespread media coverage, which ramped up last week when Hollywood A-lister George Clooney dropped in for lunch and Scott added: “The Tigerlily work has been great, particularly the buzz when gorgeous George was enjoying lunch in the venue.

“However, one of the most satisfying thing about working with Montpeliers is that they were previously a client and have returned to us after a period where they managed PR in-house. This demonstrates the long-term faith we build with clients by delivering on their objectives.”

The contract with City of Perth Winter Festival was won in a three-way pitch and will see Holyrood PR work on a range of events to boost the profile of the festival and to attract visitors from across Scotland.

The organisers were impressed with the Edinburgh agency’s creative ideas and media knowledge.

Holyrood PR specialises in helping businesses to tell their stories to the widest possible audience, using words, pictures and video, across newspapers, magazines, broadcasters, blogs and social media.

The agency has won multiple awards for its works with clients across a wide range of sectors.
