Stunning City Chambers drawing by Adrian McMurchie donated to both Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice and Yorkhill Children’s Charity

GLASGOW’S Lord Provost, Councillor Sadie Docherty, delivered an early Christmas present to patients and representatives from both Yorkhill Children’s Charity and the Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice.

The charities were gifted an exclusive, signed and framed print of Glasgow City Chambers by renowned Glasgow artist and illustrator, Adrian McMurchie.

Adrian’s creative flair was enlisted by Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB) to help bring the 2015 Glasgow Loves Christmas campaign to life. Adrian produced a series of stunningly-detailed, hand-drawn illustrations of city landmarks and icons for the campaign creative.

As a gesture of goodwill during the run up to Christmas, the Lord Provost and Glasgow Loves Christmas chose to give the iconic print to two of the city’s best loved charities.

Glasgow’s Lord Provost, Sadie Docherty, said: “These gifts are a symbol of this city’s gratitude to well-loved local charities. I am familiar with the remarkable work they carry out daily, looking after the young and old in ill-health. I know they will treasure them as we treasure their compassion and care.”

Adrian McMurchie said: “I am so glad the prints are going to such good homes. Both of these charities provide vital support to patients and families in Glasgow and from further afield. I hope they get lots of enjoyment out of the drawings.”

Shona Cardle, chief executive at Yorkhill Children’s Charity, said: “We are thrilled that Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and the Lord Provost have donated this wonderful signed print to Yorkhill Children’s Charity.

“We would also like to thank Adrian McMurchie for his generosity. I’m sure that this print will receive lots of attention from the children with its brightly coloured representation of a famous Glasgow landmark.”

Rhona Baillie, chief executive at Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, said: “The support we receive from Glasgow City Council is invaluable to us. We are so pleased to receive Adrian’s print from the Lord Provost and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau and we will display it with great pride!”
