MACDONALD Aviemore Resort is to host the Highland premiere of Robert Burns the Musical – accompanied by a traditional supper to mark the Scots bard’s birthday.

The modern interpretation of Burns’ life and work, based on an original idea by the late pop legend, Michael Jackson, and celebrity, David Gest, and developed at Lossiemouth’s Rock Academy, will be staged on January 30.

Macdonald Aviemore Resort’s director of sales, Jess Atkinson, explained: “We are all delighted to be able to showcase Scottish talent in a special one –off performance for Burns’ night at our theatre venue.

“Aviemore and Robert Burns are two of the most famous names in Scotland, particularly for tourists.

“Our vision is to use our world class cuisine and dining facilities to create one of the world’s largest Burns’ suppers, but with the added special ingredient of the musical.

We are delighted that Tish Tindall and Rock Academy have helped to make this possible”

Robert Burns the Musical, which premiered to rave reviews in Aberdeen last year,  will be both staged and screened in the resort’s theatre venue and adjacent dining area on January 30th.

The musical is a modern take on the bard’s life created by Tish Tindall of the Lossiemouth based Rock Academy and based on the original idea of David Gest and Michael Jackson.

Confirming details of the performance, Ms Tindall said: “We are absolutely delighted to be taking the show to Macdonald Aviemore Resort to launch it to a new audience in the Highlands.

“After last year’s triumphant premiere in Aberdeen and subsequent tour, I feel the resort and its facilities will provide the perfect venue for a magnificent experience for our audience.

“Everyone involved with Robert Burns the Musical is looking forward to this next stage in the show’s mission to bring the bard to the public in a modern form.”

Tickets for the show, which will start at 8pm, January 30th are available through Macdonald Aviemore Resort’s cinema priced £18 for adults and £15 for children.
