Media Release: ITCA Training calls on local businesses to provide immediate work placements

AN Aberdeen-based apprenticeship training firm is calling on local businesses to support the talent of tomorrow by offering immediate work placements.

ITCA Training, which is based at the Kirkhill Industrial Estate, Dyce, currently has three learners who need to carry out four-week work placements within companies in order to complete the Entry to Apprenticeship course (E2A).

The E2A training initiative offers the first step hopefully to an apprenticeship programme, and is funded by the national skills body, SDS (Skills Development Scotland) employability fund.

The course which lasts for 20 weeks, involves a mixture of classroom-based studies and practical work, and ITCA urgently requires placements for three fabrication/welding learners.

June Jones, managing director of ITCA, said: “Training the talent of tomorrow is highly important to ensure skilled personnel are in place when the sector picks up again.

“We still have three learners who urgently require a placement in order to complete the E2A course.

“Each learner has been carrying out practical skills in the workshops at ITCA, along with classroom studies, which means they already have a good awareness of workshop health and safety, and are equipped with a good range of basic hand skills.

“There is no cost for the placement. All we require is a company with the vision to help the learners and who can oversee their work to help progress their skills. This can be from a one man business upwards who can give back four weeks to help the emerging talent progress.

“Completing the course will allow the youngsters to move on to study for Modern Apprenticeships, and we would really appreciate the help of local companies in our mission to find placements.”
