AN international event celebrating the business links between Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Houston has once again been hailed as a resounding success.

The fourth annual Aberdeen-Houston Gateway attracted an exciting line-up of speakers, contributors and visitors from both sides of the Atlantic including a delegation of Houston business representatives led by the British Consul General in Houston, Karen Bell.

Thanks to a series of meetings, tours and networking events, the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway gave participants the opportunity to explore potential opportunities and further strengthen links between the global energy hubs.

The event was created by Granite PR and managed by Business Plus Scotland with a key highlight of the busy week being the flagship lunch at Macdonald Norwood Hall when delegates heard from a variety of businesses with experience in both the UK and U.S. markets.

In addition was the new ‘Shire Showcase’ event at Macdonald Pittodrie House Hotel which took the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway message to a wider audience than ever before.

Amongst those presenting at the Aberdeen lunch were Paradigm Flow Services who also welcomed the Houston visitors to their global headquarters at Drumoak, Aberdeenshire.

The company is a market leader in the development of ground-breaking, field proven technology for the energy industry and showcased some of its latest advancements.

The visit followed hot on the heels of a series of ‘tech days’  during which around 100 visitors visited the purpose-built test facilities to see demonstrations of equipment such as the patented Flexi-Coil subsea intervention technology.

Commenting on the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway, Karen Bell said: “I was thrilled to be in Aberdeen and continue strengthening cultural and commercial links between Aberdeen and Houston.

“The Aberdeen-Houston Gateway events every year are immensely important in showcasing the world-class innovation coming out of both energy hubs and how these two cities continue attract global attention.”

Paradigm Flow Services’ commercial director, Donald Ballantyne, said: “The Americas and Gulf of Mexico is a key strategic target for Paradigm’s continued success and future expansion.

“Being the global energy hub, Houston is the natural location to continue building our resources and networks.  Events like the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway are important to help forge new relationships and the right connections that will support our business activities and growth.”

Aberdeen-Houston Gateway creator and Granite PR founder and managing director, Brett Jackson, added: “We are delighted that so many people gave their support to this exciting event which has provided an excellent opportunity to expand corporate horizons on both sides of the Atlantic.

“Current operating conditions mean that it has never been more important to look at diversifying and adding value and we hope that the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway will provide an important springboard from which people can grow their own businesses.”
