Media release: New driving force behind CHAS as Glasgow Taxis Ltd signs up to charity partnership

CHAS TAXI MFG

Children’s Hospice Association Scotland-wrapped taxi now on the streets of Glasgow 24/7

CHILDREN’S Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is hoping its fundraising efforts will accelerate after finding a new backer in the shape of Glasgow Taxis Ltd.

The only charity that provides hospice services in Scotland for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions, CHAS will now enjoy visibility in Glasgow 24 hours-a-day, thanks to a new, specially-wrapped taxi in bright red brand colours.

Glasgow Taxis Ltd, which operates 800 licenced cabs in the city – around two-thirds of all hackneys – has donated the taxi wrap as a gesture of support for the charity’s ongoing fundraising mission.

The taxi will help raise awareness of CHAS and that it requires year-round fundraising to secure more than £10 million needed every year to run its hospices in Balloch and Kinross and to continue to provide services to the 380 families it supports.

Criona Knight, CHAS corporate fundraiser, said: “It’s fantastic to have support from Glasgow Taxis Ltd. We’re delighted with how the taxi looks, it really stands out and will certainly raise awareness for us in and around Glasgow with families and supporters alike, which is fantastic.

“We look forward to working with the company over the coming months and would like to say a huge thank you to Jack and his team for thinking of CHAS and giving us the opportunity to feature on such an iconic vehicle!”

The support for CHAS continues a proud tradition of Glasgow Taxis Ltd’s support for local causes with the Glasgow Taxi outing Fund (trip to Troon), Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice, Armed Forces and Kiltwalk among a number of beneficiaries.

Jack Ferguson, Glasgow Taxis Ltd director, said: “Everyone at Glasgow Taxis Ltd is very proud that one of our iconic cabs will support the fundraising efforts of CHAS, which is a truly worthy cause.

“As an organisation that is proud to serve the city and its people we are always keen to give a little back and CHAS is just the latest in a selected number of charities which we choose to support.

“We’re in contact with the team at CHAS with a view to exploring what other practical or fundraising support we can provide and we look forward to working with the charity to deliver a successful and positive partnership.”

About CHAS:

Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) is the only charity that provides hospice services in Scotland for babies, children and young people with life-shortening conditions.

We provide care through our two wonderful hospices – Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch – and also through CHAS at Home which has teams working from both hospices as well as dedicated teams in Aberdeen and Inverness, caring for families in their own homes when they need it most.

CHAS supports over 380 families, as well as a significant number of families who receive bereavement support. We generate support for our work through tireless, year-round fundraising to secure over £10 million needed every year to run our hospices and provide services to families.
