MRS Margaret Harper is no stranger to landmark birthdays, having celebrated her 107th one this March.
Yet even this remarkable centenarian was most moved to be given the honour of cutting the celebratory cake at a garden party last Friday, to commemorate HM the Queen’s 90th birthday.
Mrs Harper who was already 17 years-old when Her Majesty was born, is now a resident at the Inchmarlo Care Home in Banchory, Royal Deeside.
She was assisted by director and matron, Mrs Julie Mackenzie, and joined other residents of the Care Home and the Inchmarlo Retirement Village for an afternoon of refreshments and music.
Entertainment was provided by the popular cruise ship performer, Sadie, at Strictly Entertainment, who led the communal singing of songs popular throughout HM The Queen’s long reign.
Festivities will continue at the Retirement Village over the summer months as Inchmarlo celebrates its 30th anniversary this year.
Having opened in 1986, the project is recognised as the first full Continuing Care Retirement Community in the UK and the 100-acre estate is now home to residents from all over Britain.
