Media Release: 2,500 sheep ‘flock’ to support business venue in Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park

LLTNP 4

THE Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park Authority is opening up its eco-friendly head-office in Balloch for use as a perfect venue for business meetings, conferences and events.

Just 30-minutes from Glasgow, the Park Authority hopes that its unique, flexible space will appeal to a wide range of organisations.

The incredible variety of activities available in the National Park also make it a perfect location for team development days. Situated a stone’s throw away from the iconic Loch Lomond, the venue is also close to Glasgow Airport, so is ideally placed to welcome international visitors.

Green to its core

The Park’s head office, Carrochan, is the largest building in the UK with a locally sourced ‘green’ timber structure, and over 2,500 sheep donated their winter coats to create the wool insulation in the walls and ceilings.

Carrochan’s carbon footprint is less than half that of a conventional building, with heating being supplied by a biomass boiler. You would never guess when looking at them but our smart, comfortable meeting rooms chairs have been created using recycled car batteries and old seat belts.

Premier facilities

Visitors have a choice of two conference suites and a board room that can be booked together or individually, and each offers space for a reception, break-out and lunch area.

The capacity of the larger conference suite is 120 delegates, and the smaller, more intimate boardroom is suitable for up to ten delegates. A selection of facilities is available throughout the areas, including:

  • Screen with mounted LCD projector
  • Video-conferencing
  • Desktop microphone
  • Handheld and clip-on microphones
  • DVD player
  • Lecture podium
  • Complimentary wi-fi
  • Stationery and flipcharts
  • Experienced IT technical support

A full day can be booked from as little at £150.

The Park is supporting the local economy by partnering with local food and drink suppliers and caterers to offer delegates quality fresh ingredients prepared and presented to the highest standards during meetings and conferences.

Team building exercise(s)

Visitors are spoiled for choice when it comes to away-days and team building exercises – both indoors and out – from guided wildlife walks or canoeing to adventure ropes courses or lessons at one of the Park’s cook schools.

Staff at the Park can help you create a wide variety of bespoke packages that combine meeting room hire with team building activities from the many providers in the Park.

Alternatively, guests also have access to a numerous scenic walks, from a 20-minute forest stroll during a lunch break, to a more adventurous walk up on of the Park’s many iconic hills or mountains. There are endless opportunities for people to get out into nature to relax and to find adventure.

The move to open up the headquarters of the Park Authority comes as it aims to raise vital new funds that can be re-invested in the Park to support conservation and development projects.

Markus Kroner, director of Estates for Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park Authority, said: “This is truly one of the most unique venues in the UK. It’s location, at the gateway to some of Scotland’s most breath-taking countryside, coupled with its green credentials and local investments is sure to make it a winner with events managers everywhere.

“We’ll be helping businesses meet their corporate social responsibility objectives, and at the same time, provide them first class facilities and the opportunity to enjoy the delights the Park offers.

“From team building in the woods, out in the hills, or on the water, through to the outstanding selection of local culinary options available in the Park’s towns and villages, we offer so much more than a typical venue ever could.”

“Offering businesses and organisations use of our head office in Balloch means we’ll be able to raise much needed additional resources that will be re-invested in the important work of protecting the precious environment of the National Park.”
