Top football personalities help raise vital funds for social care charity

QUARRIERS, one of Scotland’s leading social care charities, celebrated a fantastic boost after guests of the charity’s first-ever Sportsman’s Dinner were at their generous best.

Football pundit, Jim Delahunt, kicked off proceedings in the beautiful surroundings of The Chartroom at the Kip Marina, Inverkip.

Joining Jim on stage were Scottish football personality Alan Rough (‘Roughie’) and funnyman, Andy Cameron, ensuring guests enjoyed a hat-trick of entertainment.

Roughie reflected on his career, treating guests to stories from his days as a Scotland international goalkeeper in two World Cups. Meanwhile, Andy Cameron brought the house down with his hilarious anecdotes from his colourful career as a comedian and TV and radio broadcaster.

Over 80 guests were given an insight into the diverse careers of all three personalities which made for an entertaining evening. As well as this, guests enjoyed a delicious dinner along with the chance to enter a fantastic prize draw.

Commenting on the evening, Andy Williamson, Quarriers deputy chief executive, said: “Quarriers’ first-ever Sportsman’s Dinner has been a huge success. On behalf of everyone at Quarriers we would like to thank all our guests for attending and showing their support – we are taken aback by the generosity from all.

“Quarriers strives to make a difference to the lives of the people who need it most and so the money raised tonight will go a long way towards achieving this. We really mean it when we say we couldn’t do this without your support.

“We would also like to thank Jim Delahunt, Alan Rough and Andy Cameron for taking time out of their busy schedules to join us for the evening. They really helped to make the event an unforgettable one, and had the guests laughing from start to finish.”
