Media Release: Public to decide which Lanarkshire tourism business has star quality

lbea

FOR the first time ever, the public can nominate their favourite Lanarkshire tourism businesses, from cosy cafés to local B&Bs or even adrenaline-pumping adventure centres, for an award at the 2017 Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards.

VisitLanarkshire, the region’s official tourism organisation, sponsors The John Brinkins Award for Excellence in Tourism, and is asking the public to put forward any organisation they feel makes Lanarkshire a must-visit destination.

Judges will assess each entry on a variety of factors, including whether the business delivers an excellent customer experience, as well as its commitment to growth and success.

Mark Calpin, chair of the Lanarkshire Tourism Partnership, said: “We have always been huge supporters of the Lanarkshire Business Excellence Awards and have sponsored The John Brinkins Award for many years.

“We feel it is so important to recognise our local tourism businesses for their hard work and dedication to making Lanarkshire great for all our visitors.

“Tourism is a crucial part of Lanarkshire’s local economy as well as supporting thousands of jobs.

“Businesses which are successful at this year’s event will be those that have demonstrated a commitment to making Lanarkshire a destination which offers authentic experiences and great value for money.”

The public can nominate their favourite businesses by emailing info@visitlanarkshire.com before the deadline on Monday 24 October 2016.

As this is the first year of the new nomination system, businesses will still be able to nominate themselves by submitting an application.

Winners will be announced at the black-tie event being held at the Motherwell Concert Hall on Friday 3 March 2017.
