EDEN Court CREATIVE and CashBack for Creativity are delighted to be hosting two spectacular events in the coming week.

Following the huge success of the CashBack film screening at the Inverness Film Festival last Friday, Eden Court will be opening its doors once again to showcase local theatrical and musical talent.

The first ever CashBack for Creativity Music Showcase will be taking place on Friday 18th November at 19.00 in the OneTouch Theatre, and promises to be an evening jam-packed with live music and spoken word from local young musicians, bands and songwriters.

Fourteen talented acts will take to the stage to perform a variety of genres; from acoustic guitar to electronic industrial grindcore. The show will also feature a music video filmed and produced by young carers during the recent October holidays.

On Monday 21st November, at 19.00 Eden Court CREATIVE’s Moray Youth Theatre will be performing their hard-hitting production of ‘That’s Not Love, Actually’, in the OneTouch Theatre.

In this piece, a Further Education college provides the backdrop to a collection of individual stories devised by the cast; a couple in a mutually violent relationship, a controlling and abusive boyfriend, a forbidden and sinister affair, online abuse, stalking and destructive friendships are all portrayed in a fast-moving and thought-provoking new play that asks the question: what is love, actually?

Eden Court Creative’s Moray Youth Theatre has been established this year through our CashBack projects and we have worked with 24 young people over the last six months to devise this piece.

These projects are funded by CashBack for Creativity, part of the Scottish Government’s CashBack for Communities initiative, which has seen over £45 million recovered through the Proceeds of Crime Act reinvested back into communities to benefit Scotland’s young people.

Eden Court are proud to be one of the only original funded partners of CashBack for Creativity and we have been delivering this life-changing and essential work since 2009.

Graeme Roger, Eden Court CREATIVE’s CashBack for Creativity co-ordinator, said: “I have been inspired and amazed at the level of talent of commitment from everyone involved in all our CashBack activities. This is the next generation of creative talent and it’s an absolute privilege to work alongside them.”

Notes to editors:

  • Eden Court is the largest multi-arts venue in Scotland. It re-opened in November 2007 following an extensive redevelopment programme, which saw the addition of two purpose built cinemas, a brand new flexible second theatre space and two dance and education studios.
  • Eden Court CREATIVE Arts Workers live and work in ten different areas covering the whole of the Highlands of Scotland, from Nairn to Skye, from Lochaber to Caithness. They specialise in making drama, dance and digital media activities accessible to both children and adults in the Highlands. Eden Court CREATIVE also employs two Additional Support Needs specialists, making the Arts as accessible as possible for the entire community.
  • Eden Court is the only theatre in Scotland to offer Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) courses in Drama and Dance. These are extracurricular courses, which offer pupils from across Highland the opportunity to study at Eden Court for an SQA Higher Dance, Drama or National 5 exams. Aside from Eden Court, there is only one school in the Highlands where pupils can sit SQA Higher Drama exams.
  • Cashback for Creativity is part of the Scottish Government’s Cashback for Communities programme, which reinvests the proceeds of crime back into communities to benefit Scotland’s young people. Cashback for Creativity aims to support a wide range of projects in dance, film and music – reaching communities where there is an identified and demonstrated need.
