THE cream of the Scottish construction industry will be recognised at an awards ceremony tomorrow [Thursday], when the winners of the Scots section of the Master Builder Awards – hosted by the Federation of Master Builders – are revealed.

Taking place in Edinburgh and now in its 13th year, the awards continue to be a flagship for high-quality building work.

Any project entered by the builder must be backed up by the customer – giving home-owners the opportunity to support those building companies that have delivered exceptional results.

Ruth Davidson MSP for Edinburgh Central, and leader of the Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party, will be the keynote speaker at the event at the Merchants Hall, in the capital.

In recent years, members from Shetland, Stirling, East Lothian, North Ayrshire and Aberdeenshire have been victorious.

The award categories are New Build Home, Heritage project, Small Renovation Project, Large Renovation Project, Commercial project, Kitchen or Bathroom project, Apprentice of the Year award and the Lifetime Achievement award.

We also have the Heavenly Builder award in which the winner epitomises what the awards are all about as it looks for evidence of professionalism, courtesy and exceptional customer service.

Begins a spokesperson: “Every day, across Scotland, high-quality building projects are being managed by FMB members.

“These projects could be a new bathroom, a garage conversion or a much-needed extension for a growing family.

“Whether the work is being completed in Elgin or Edinburgh, what’s in common is that it’s our master builders who are delivering the work.

“Our Master Builder Awards celebrate the hard work, care and quality which our members proudly deliver, day in and day out, across Scotland. So we now look forward to celebrating the excellent work of quality builders at our awards ceremony as well as finding out who the winners are and where they can be found.”

Once all of the Scottish winners are announced on Thursday, they will be entered into the UK finals to be judged alongside the winners from Wales, Northern Ireland and from across England.

Added the spokesperson: “So, good luck to all of our winners from Scotland.

“Let’s hope one or more of them emerge as UK national winners at the ceremony on 15th September at the Intercontinental Park Lane Hotel in London.

“There’s a lot to play for as the winner of the overall Master Builder Awards title, selected from all category winners, will receive a brand new Vauxhall Light Commercial Vehicle, worth up to £20,000.

“Their clients will also receive a cheque for £1,000 for their efforts.”
