Media release: Nicola Sturgeon to return to Edinburgh International TV Festival

PublicRelationsToUse

THE Edinburgh International TV Festival is delighted to welcome back Scotland’s First Minister, Nicola Sturgeon, following her popular Alternative MacTaggart lecture in 2015.

The First Minister will deliver a short keynote speech, with topics including the election, opportunities for developing screen and TV production in Scotland and diversity in the media.

The speech will be followed by a Q&A, chaired by television journalist, Kirsty Wark.

Lisa Campbell, festival director, said: “Nicola Sturgeon spoke to a packed auditorium in 2015 and it was by far one of the most popular sessions that year.

“A fantastic orator, smart and quick-witted, she demonstrated the effectiveness of her unspun approach to political discourse and refused to shy away from any topic, whether it was the representation of women in the media or the future of the union.

“We’re delighted to welcome her back.”

The news of Sturgeon’s appearance coincided with the announcement that Jon Snow, the award-winning journalist and broadcaster, will deliver this year’s prestigious James MacTaggart Memorial Lecture.

And that bursaries, to attend the festival at a discounted rate, are being made available to Scots TV producers: here.
