WITH a week until nominations open for sportMoray’s annual recognition awards, the group is delighted to have secured a headline sponsor for the event.

Individuals and teams from Moray which have contributed to, or achieved success in their chosen sport at regional, national or international level can be put forward for the 2017 Diageo sportMoray Recognition Awards, which take place in November.

Nominations open on 28 August for the 14 categories, which include veteran sports athlete, special achievement and sports personality of the year.

Diageo’s supply operations manager, Sean Pritchard, said that although the company has been a long running sponsor of the awards, this year they were keen to up their support.

“We are proud to be principal sponsor for this year’s awards recognising and celebrating the many athletes, coaches, groups and organisations in Moray who are excelling in their given field.”

Ann Rossiter, sportMoray chair, added: “We’re most fortunate to receive this generous sponsorship from Diageo, who’ve been a long-term sponsor and supporter of the sportMoray Awards.

“With a number of sport councils ceasing to operate through lack of financial support, it’s encouraging for us that Diageo wish to increase their sponsorship and, along with our other committed sponsors, is continuing to back our sportMoray Awards.

“I encourage all clubs and their members, parents and members of the community to consider putting pen to paper and nominate someone from their local community who deserves recognition.”

The full list of categories and how to nominate can be found on the Sport in Moray website.
