Cover of the Year to be decided by public vote

Tickets now on sale for awards ceremony on 23 November at EICC, Edinburgh

THE nominees for this year’s PPA Scottish Magazine Awards have been revealed, highlighting the huge amount of talent in the country’s vibrant magazine industry.

Each year, the highly sought-after PPA Scottish Magazine Awards are given to the very best professional publishers in Scotland. They reward excellence from writing and editing to design, online innovation and sales performance.

This year’s shortlist is now online at www.ppa.co.uk/sma17.

The judging panel for the PPA Scottish Magazine Awards 2017 featured 15 of the top UK professionals working in magazines and related industries. This year’s chair of the panel is Terri White, editor of Empire magazine.

She praised the quality of the entrants, adding: “Scotland: you have some serious talent.”

This year, for the first time, the winner of the Scottish Cover of the Year Award will be decided by public vote. Eighteen of the best covers of the last year have been shortlisted by PPA’s judging panel, and online voting will stay open until 13 November.

PPA Scotland business manager, Laura Dunlop, said: “The public vote is a fantastic way for us to reach out to the many magazine lovers across Scotland, and to allow them to make their voices heard. In the first couple of hours that we have had the voting open, we have already seen hundreds of people take the opportunity to tell us about the magazines they love.

“Everyone can vote once a day until the closing date on 13 November, so head over to our website and get behind your favourite cover!”
