Media release: BBC Scotland to host fact-finding events for proposed channel’s news operation

PublicRelationsToUse

BBC Scotland is planning the launch of a new television channel in late 2018. The proposed channel, which is subject to regulatory approval, would have an hour-long news and current affairs programme each week day evening at the heart of its schedule.

The Nine O’Clock News will be on air from 9pm, with shorter bulletins at weekends. The programme will provide a mix of Scottish, UK and international news.

To inform potential staff about the exciting opportunities which will be coming on stream with BBC Scotland later this year, a series of informal fact-finding events will take place in Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee and Inverness during April.

These events will provide an opportunity to hear about the plans for the new channel and meet members of the news team.

BBC Scotland is looking for people to join the new channel and take up positions in journalism and in technical roles on television, radio and digital platforms. The positions require broad skills in journalism, producing content and technical production. The channel is especially interested in people who have expertise in these areas and can work flexibly.

These sessions are aimed at anyone who has an interest in working in the fast-paced environment of a 21st century news operation. It is not a requirement to attend one of these events before applying for a role within the new channel’s news and current affairs team. These positions will be advertised later in the year.

The deadline for applying to register an interest is Sunday 8 April. For more information on how to apply and register your interest in attending one of the events click on the links below:
