MORAY Council and Scottish Golf have together launched a golf club forum in Moray.

The inaugural forum at Buckpool Golf Club attracted 14 members from seven different clubs, who took part in a series of workshops run by Moray Council and Scottish Golf staff.

Over the two-hour session, topics covered included everything from using social media to communicate better with members, how to run clubs more efficiently, environment and sustainability, and a coaching workshop including putting techniques and swing analysis.

The evening rounded off with a question and answer session on the new General Data Protection Regulation, to help clubs prepare for the new legislation which comes into force on 25 May.

Kim Paterson, Moray Council’s Active Schools and Sports Development manager said it was “fantastic” to see a new forum for golf in the area.

“There are a wide range of sport-specific forums currently operating in Moray for cricket, tennis, badminton and rugby – and the clubs genuinely do work in collaboration to share resources, skills and knowledge to ensure the sport as a whole develops in Moray. I would like to thank all the organisers, deliverers and individuals that came along to this inaugural forum in making it a success.”

The next forum will be held in August before the end of the golf season. Clubs will choose from a list of 14 different workshops which will be delivered by staff from Moray Council and Scottish Golf free of charge.

Famous for its colony of dolphins, fabulous beaches and more malt whisky distilleries than any where else in Scotland, Moray is a thriving area and a great place to live. Nestling between Aberdeenshire and the Highlands, Moray stretches from Tomintoul in the south to the shores of the Moray Firth, from Keith in the east to Brodie Castle in the west.
