FREE try-a-boat sessions are part of the ‘Get Afloat’ theme at Scotland’s Boat Show 2018 and are expected to attract thousands of visitors to Kip Marina, Inverclyde this weekend as the largest boat show in Scotland and largest brokerage show in the UK opens on Friday.

Now in its’ 32nd year, Scotland’s Boat Show 2018 (SBS18) aims to encourage more people to get involved in boats and boating in Scotland for the first time and, has linked up with RYA Scotland and their partners to give short taster sessions free of charge in powerboats, yachts and dinghies during the show. For mobility-impaired visitors, sailing taster sessions will be available in accessible dinghies plus the unique Wheelyboat will be on hand allowing wheelchair users to get on the water.

SBS18 & Holt Leisure MD, Gavin McDonagh, said: “We are delighted to have grown Scotland’s Boat Show into the major event on the Scottish marine calendar and into a gateway to get visitors afloat and encourage them to enjoy Scotland’s world-class sailing waters. We’re grateful to our partners and sponsors who enable us to keep SBS18 as a free admission show and a great family day out”

With over 120 boats on display, visitors can explore the latest models from leading manufacturers plus an unrivalled range of high quality pre-owned boats for sale, with this year’s collection featuring boats to suit every style and budget, from novice to experienced blue water sailors and from a £500 dinghy to a £1 million luxury powerboat.

On shore there is plenty for visitors to enjoy with the RYA Scotland Pavilion showcasing the latest marine and leisure products from UK wide companies, luxury motor cars, holiday and motorhomes whilst for the family there will be pipe bands, Rock Choirs, birds of prey and a giant fun area to keep the little ones occupied.

If something a little faster appeals you can take a helicopter flight over Kip Marina and view the stunning scenery of the Firth of Clyde with the team from Heliscot or, for a bit of retail therapy, head to the Clyde LifeStyle Pavilion which hosts everything from fashion to furniture.

For foodies, and to celebrate the Year of Young People, join the chef students of West College Scotland in the Food & Drink Pavilion where they presents a series of cooking displays alongside an indoor ‘street market’ with amazing food from carefully-selected local and Scottish producers.

Scotland’s Boat Show 2018 takes place at Kip Marina, Inverkip, Inverclyde on the 12th, 13th & 14th of October – Admission is free and car parking is a nominal £5 per vehicle.
