NUJ Scotland has a few funded places available on some training courses running next week, two in Glasgow and one in Dundee which are being funded by Scottish Union Learning and the Scottish Government.

These are:

18 January 2019                GDPR for freelancers (Dundee)

Tuesday, 15 January 2019 Brand me: Confidence skills for self-employment

In this one-day workshop, communications specialist sole trader and former BBC Radio Scotland producer, Mairi Damer, shares techniques and tips to help you build confidence and the self-promotion skills required to survive and thrive in the world of self-employment.

Wednesday, 16 January 2019 Feature writing and pitching

This course is for anyone who would benefit from understanding the principles and actions behind successful features. It covers writing with style for professional publications and includes sessions on building a story, structure, interviewing and pitching. Every aspect of writing outstanding features will be covered, from understanding your audience, publication and subject, to research, writing and interview skills.

Friday, 18 January 2019 GDPR (Dundee)

This half-day session will help you get to grips with this new data protection regime and its implications for journalism. It will include considerations of data sharing, consent, information security, data subject rights and issues relating to photography.
