A COLLABORATION between The Times Scotland and creative agency, Whitespace – in support of law firm, Morton Fraser – has won the award in the Best Press category at ‘The Nods’ 2019 – a new set of creative awards that recognise and celebrate great work, organisations and people amongst the creative community in Scotland.

The Morton Fraser campaign ran in September 2018 with the brand message. ‘Welcome to Clarity’. This included a series of adverts within The Times and Sunday Times Scotland, as well as a weekly takeover of The Times online for Scotland only.

The main highlight of the campaign was the ‘barn door’ creative, understood to be the first time this had been done in Scotland. This innovative format involves a two-tier creative across a double-page spread, with page lifts up and down across the centre to reveal the underlay content. The Times is believed to be the only publishers which can offer this product.

Lane Media was the buying agency in the process.

Jill Greenshields, head of Sales at News Scotland, commented: “This award is testament to the unrivalled commercial opportunities that News Scotland can offer the Scottish market.

“Not only does it demonstrate what working in partnership with our clients to generate insight-led, tailored and innovative solutions can achieve, but it also shows the terrific capabilities of our News Printers and what their cutting edge printing capabilities can deliver.”

Iain Valentine, managing partner at Whitespace, added: “We wanted to help our client Morton Fraser to stand out, and the solutions we designed in conjunction with the News Scotland commercial team certainly achieved that. We’re delighted with the results.”
