THE Supplier Development Programme (SDP) is working with the Scottish Police Authority (SPA) to hold free training for potential suppliers on the Public Contracts Scotland Tender website, the national eTendering system, which is centrally funded by the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Police Authority (SPA) and Crown Office & Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) will shortly release a tender for a Framework for the Uplift and Transportation of Deceased Persons.

To support the engagement of SMEs in bidding for this framework opportunity, the Supplier Development Programme is providing a free tender training session in Inverness on Tuesday, 10 December.

There are a range of circumstances where the SPA and COPFS are required to transport deceased persons when a death occurs in the community; mainly Police Reportable Deaths and unexplained medical deaths where the Procurator fiscal instructs the police to carry out an investigation into the circumstances of a death.

The framework will be split into two Lots, including Reactive Journeys and Planned Journeys. It is anticipated that up to 30 Contractors will be appointed across both Lots to ensure sufficient coverage over the whole of Scotland.

Jennifer Payne, Supplier Development Programme development officer, said: “This free tender training is aimed at businesses in the islands and across the highlands that may wish to bid for this upcoming contract opportunity with the Scottish Police Authority and COPFS.

“It’s free to attend, and will cover the requirements of the Framework, conditions for participation, how to use PCS-Tender, and the tender process.

“We hope that small and medium sized businesses in the funeral and related services sector will attend, as this Framework is vital to potentially provide much-needed services in locations throughout Scotland.”

Suppliers can register for the training on 10 December on the SDP Scotland website.
