Helping parents who are in lockdown with small children find the joy in an uplifting story

THE team at Glasgow-based Heavy Bucket Books have made their fully interactive digital children’s book, ‘Tin Circus’, free to all parents who are currently in lockdown.

Available from today it can be downloaded from the Apple App Store for those who have iPads.

“These are confusing times for children and parents,”says Stewart Thomson who authored Tin Circus. “New routines need to be quickly established and finding joy in an uplifting story while also being able to spend time identifying hidden clues is a great way to pass some time.”

Stewart went on to say: “Exploring themes of childhood, memory and the powerful connection between old and young, Tin Circus is the first project by Heavy Bucket Books. The plan is to eventually have a digital bookshelf full of beautiful stories that all share the same tone and vision, an in-house style instantly recognisable as a Heavy Bucket Books production. Watch this space!”

With beautiful animation, stunning original music and fun sound effects, the book opens with the inventor who is feeling very sad. His sweet little robot, Sinclair, tries everything he can to make him feel better, but nothing seems to work. Knowing how much the inventor loves the circus, Sinclair has a light-bulb moment and decides to build one just for him!

This timeless story will captivate and delight children of all ages and the clever interactive features – placed on every page – aim to promote problem solving skills and boost concentration levels.

When finished, the reader will receive a score for identifying the number of interactive points they have discovered. Children and adults alike will be delighted to return to track down the features they might have missed. This smart system encourages re-reading and cooperation.

Key features include:

25 stunning illustrations
Original music and sound effects
Charming storytelling
Multiple narration options
Over 70 interactive points of interest
Achievement system
