BBC Scotland will continue to delve in to the sport archives this summer bringing audiences a bumper serving of golden moments and classic clashes from Andy Murray’s Wimbledon and Olympic triumphs to the staggering achievements of Sir Chris Hoy on the cycle track and a famous boxing bout from 1973 with two of Scotland’s greatest boxers.

From July 3rd, every Friday and Sunday night on the BBC Scotland channel, audiences can re-live some of Scotland’s greatest sporting successes starting with the famous 1973 British title fight meeting in Glasgow between boxers, Ken Buchanan and Jim Watt.

Over the following weeks audiences can revisit the excitement of Andy Murray’s triumphs on the tennis court including his record breaking Olympic gold wins in 2012 and 2016 and his history-making Wimbledon titles in 2013 and 2016.

In addition, Scotland’s most successful Olympian, Sir Chris Hoy, will be celebrated, with all of his Olympic gold-medal winning moments being broadcast.

Success on the curling rink will also make up part of this medal winning package when, under skippers, Rhona Martin and Eve Muirhead, Team GB took home the Winter Olympics gold and bronze medals in 2002 and 2014.

Steve Carson, head of multiplatform commissioning, BBC Scotland said: “This is a great opportunity for audiences to re-live the excitement, emotion and pride everyone felt when we watched these great sporting moments the first time round, whether they were on a tennis court, a cycle track, a curling rink or a boxing ring.

“We know our audiences love watching sport and that the effect of lockdown has prevented people from either taking part or attending sporting events. To be able to bring together some of Scotland’s greatest sporting successes will, we hope, provide a much needed lift to audiences during what has been a challenging period in our lives.”
