Media release: Scottish Sun Radio launches new station

Chilled

SCOTTISH Sun Radio is launching a new station, Scottish Sun Chilled, which will play a relaxing mix of music from the last 25 years – providing listeners with the ‘me time’ they have been craving during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Scottish Sun Chilled will be available from Monday 2 November on DAB and online channels, alongside existing stations Scottish Sun Hits and Scottish Sun 80s.

Listeners can expect music from a range of established and newer artists, including Scottish stars Lewis Capaldi and breakthrough singer songwriter Callum Beattie, as well as laidback tracks from the likes of Ed Sheeran, James May, Atomic Kitten, Beyoncé and Rihanna.

Programme director, Mike Cass, said: “The strapline for the radio station is Scotland’s easy place to relax. In a world where everything is far too manic, a radio station that you can tune into and just unwind at any time of the day is really what’s needed right now.

“Everything is becoming so fraught in life, regardless of the pandemic – 24/7 emails, social media, whatever – you need a bit of respite in life and that’s what Scottish Sun Chilled is going to do.

“We want this to be a trip to the spa for your ears. You can feel that tension coming out of your shoulders, you find yourself singing along to songs and genuinely unwinding.

“As the nights are drawing in, and it’s getting colder, this is the audible version of wrapping yourself in a really lovely blanket, grabbing a mug of hot chocolate and sitting by an open fire. The songs you’ll hear will create that warm feeling inside of you.”

News Scotland MD, Richard Bogie, said: “Scottish Sun Chilled demonstrates our commitment to putting our listeners and readers at the heart of what we do. It will complement our existing stations, offering something fresh for our current and new listeners with its must-listen playlists. Advertisers will be able to reach Scottish Sun readers in more ways than ever. ”

The new station, which replaces Scottish Sun Greatest Hits, will be slightly more female focused, aimed at 25-44 year-olds.
