THE Big Light is delighted to announce the launch of a new podcast drama series, Three Sisters – A Story from The Climate Future.
Created by renowned art and social justice group, Platform, Three Sisters – A Story from the Climate Future is a timely and thought-provoking audio drama based on Chekhov’s Three Sisters play.
It’s a stunning exploration of how people carry on in a dislocated world, suffering from the impact of climate change and repeated pandemics.
Set in rural Scotland in the late 2030s, co-creators James Marriott and Lena Šimić have used the structure and sensibility of Anton Chekhov’s Three Sisters – a dissection of isolation, longing, and family ties – to explore a thriving community set up against the backdrop of social and ecological collapse. But after 15 years of weathering storms, floods, and lockdowns, can this community survive itself?
Recorded on location at Kirkconnell House in Dumfries, this evocative and richly-textured four-part drama follows the members of an ‘oddkin household’ from 2035 until 2038.
The story of this community asks:
How will we live under the impacts of climate change, with extreme weather events and so many forced to be refugees?
What shape will our altered society take? How will we love? How are we to live?
The Big Light:
The Big Light is a Scots network and producers of broadcast-quality podcasts. Based on Glasgow’s Quayside, The Big Light was founded by TV and radio professionals, Fiona White and Janice Forsyth.
