Media release: National Theatre of Scotland to hold first social media call

THE National Theatre of Scotland and Frantic Assembly are holding their first social media call at The Crucible Theatre, Sheffield on 3rd November at 2.15pm for 2.45pm for hit boxing show, Beautiful Burnout.

Begins a spokesperson: “This is the first time the National Theatre of Scotland has held an open media call for users of social media.

“It offers the unique opportunity to take pictures/film extracts of the production and the chance to interview the cast and creatives.

“Participants will then be encouraged to share their pictures/film extracts through social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Blipfoto.

“On the day people are encouraged to come along with a camera/camera phone and register at the front desk of the Crucible where they will be given information on the show and briefed on the two scenes they are about to see.

“Two extracts of around five minutes will be run through twice.

“The total number of people allowed access to the call will be limited to 50 all of whom will also be given two free tickets to see the show in full on Friday night.

“This five-star boxing production tours to Sheffield following a critically acclaimed, sold out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and at the famous boxing venue, York Hall in London. The production will tour to New York in the New Year.”

Beautiful Burnout tells a bruising and lyrical tale of aspirations and counterpunches, delivered in a visceral, hearts-in-your-mouth production about one of the most controversial sports of our time.

The show is directed by Scott Graham and Olivier award-winner Steven Hoggett.

The full cast is Ryan Fletcher, Eddie Kay, Vicki Manderson, Lorraine McIntosh, Taqi Nazeer, Henry Pettigrew and Ewan Stewart.

The production also features music from Underworld’s latest album Barking which was released in September.

Beautiful Burnout tours to The Crucible, Sheffield (3-13 November 2010), Minerva Theatre, Chichester (16-27 November 2010) and then to St Ann’s Warehouse, New York (25 Feb-27 March 2011).
