Media release: Construction staff swap tools for texting to support Yorkhill Children’s Foundation

YORKHILL Children’s Foundation’s Christmas Appeal and first-ever text fundraising campaign has been given a significant boost thanks to a £5,000 donation from Glasgow-based Cruden Homes.

The campaign supports the charity’s efforts to raise vital funds for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children in Glasgow, affectionately known as Yorkhill.

John Gallacher, managing director of Cruden Homes, commented: “Cruden has a long history of working with the NHS in Glasgow, including the building of the original Queen Mother’s Hospital at Yorkhill in the 1960s.

“As a result, Yorkhill Children’s Foundation is a very appropriate charity for us to support and popular with customers and staff alike, so we are very pleased to be making the first donation.”

Cruden has pledged further support by actively promoting the campaign to all of their staff and business partners, through their website and by putting up appeal posters at their site offices and show homes to encourage more staff and members of the public to donate £3 by texting ‘YORKHILL’ to  ‘70003’.

David Welch, head of fundraising, marketing and communications at Yorkhill Children’s Foundation, said: “This donation from Cruden is fantastic and will go a long way to making a real difference to many children and their families at Yorkhill Hospital this Christmas and in the year ahead.

“The text campaign was set up to provide a quick and easy mechanism for people to donate and we very much hope that through the ongoing support of Cruden, that others businesses will follow suit and add their support to our campaign in the run up to Christmas.”

John Gallacher continued: “Cruden’s links with the NHS are still current today, with our developments close to the new hospital at Southern General in Govan. These developments are helping to regenerate the area around the hospital and we are offering special deals for NHS staff.”

The Foundation was set up in 2001 and has already helped thousands of children through the provision of medical equipment and additional services and facilities, which support the life saving work carried out by staff at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children at Yorkhill.
