Media Release: The Scottish Open goes WEST at Loch Lomond Golf Club

SPECTATORS at this year’s Barclays Scottish Open at Loch Lomond Golf Club from July 10th to 13th, can look forward to a refreshing stein of beer as they take in all the golfing action.

That’s because Glasgow-based WEST Brewery, Bar & Restaurant, the first UK brewery to produce all of its beers in accordance with the Reinheitsgebot, known as the German Purity Law, has signed a deal with The Supreme Group, Scotland’s premier supplier of mobile bars, to supply beer to the prestigious event .

German brewery owner, Petra Wetzel, said: “As most golf-lovers know, the best hole is the 19th, but spectators at the Scottish Open won’t have to wait till the round is over before getting some much-needed refreshment.

“Instead, they can simply make their way over to the WEST mobile bar to sample a taste of our signature Munich-style lager Helles, brewed in Glasgow using only the four core ingredients of water, malt, hops and yeast in brewing all our beers, adding no artificial additives, colouring or preservatives.”

WEST produces a full range of beers, from cool, crisp lagers, through to clean-tasting wheat beers and a full range of unique and seasonal styles. Helles is brewed with carefully selected imported ingredients to create a crisp and clean beer with satisfying malt sweetness, complemented by delicate hop bitterness (ABV 4.9%).

Three out of the world’s top four golfers will tee up in The Barclays Scottish Open, to be staged at Loch Lomond Golf Club from July 10-13, 2008.
