Media Release: J&E Shepherd appoints Frank Malcolm as head of its Edinburgh building surveying department

FRANK Malcolm has joined J&E Shepherd Chartered Surveyors, one of the largest independent firms of chartered surveyors in the UK, as head of its Edinburgh building surveying department.

Joining Shepherd from CRGP, where he was an associate, Mr Malcolm’s expertise in building surveying has been realised through close involvement in many insurance reinstatement refurbishment projects, large stock condition surveys and project monitoring of both residential and commercial developments on behalf of major lending institutions.

“I am delighted to be joining a firm of Shepherd’s stature at a time of growth within the organisation,” he said. “As a chartered building surveyor I am looking forward to working closely with the commercial surveyors to complement the services already offered by the firm.

“Having been born in Edinburgh and raised on the East Coast of Scotland, this was an opportunity that I could not refuse and will allow me to strengthen my presence in the East and across the Central Belt.”

Graeme McDonald, head of Building Surveying for J&E Shepherd, said “We are delighted to welcome Frank to the firm and know that he will be a tremendous asset to our expanding Building Surveying Department. Frank comes to the firm with a wealth of experience in commercial building surveying, which we are sure will drive forward this expanding side of the business.

“Frank will head up our Edinburgh building surveying department servicing our Edinburgh and central belt offices. His appointment highlights the importance building surveying represents within the firm and means that Shepherd’s now has a building surveying presence in each of our City offices.”

Actively involved with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Matrics, Mr Malcolm held the post of chair for the West of Scotland Branch in 2007/2008.

J&E Shepherd, one of Scotland’s leading firms of chartered surveyors, valuers, property agents and managers, has been established for over 125 years and operates from a network of 28 offices throughout Scotland and over 75 locations throughout England and Wales. The firm offers a multi disciplinary property service to include valuation, sales and lettings, building surveying, rent reviews, development and investment consultancy, rating and property management.
