Media Release: Scottish charity, Global Trees, joins forces with Heriot-Watt University students

STUDENTS from Heriot-Watt University have joined forces with Scottish charity, Global Trees, once again.

The students have teamed up with the environmental group to plant trees on the university campus to further off-set the carbon used in their university union. This was made possible with the support of Global Trees & Grant Management.

The students have planted 50 trees – a mixture of oak and birch – at the Edinburgh campus and student president Liam Burns said that the students were delighted to be taking part:

“Students are some of the most environmentally-aware members of society and, as this initiative shows, believe in actions, not words.

“The People & Planet society have done a great job in pushing environmental issues up the agenda and as one of our students pointed out, how often do you get the chance to plant trees?! Tree-mendous… some might say.”
