Media Release: Primary seven pupil is one in a million!

PRIMARY seven pupil, Rob Paterson, got a surprise when he arrived at his school lunch to a fanfare welcome as he was the millionth customer to use his swipe card since George Watson’s College installed swipe facilities in February 2005.

He was presented with free lunches for a week and a cake to take home for his mum and dad.

Gareth Edwards, principal of George Watson’s College, said: “I’d like to congratulate Rob for his part in this landmark for catering at Watson’s.

“We actively encourage a healthy approach to eating, incorporating fresh produce into the school lunch recipes, wherever possible. Since the introduction of swipe cards, our Catering Department’s operational efficiency has increased, and we believe that this has allowed even more creativity to develop what we provide for our pupils. The food is very popular.”

Watson’s pupils are not permitted to leave the campus during the day, until S6.

All school meals are prepared fresh each day, and pupils can choose from a range of sandwiches and hot main meals prepared in-house or from a daily baguette and potato bar offering a choice of salads prepared from fresh fruit and vegetables.
