Media Release: Old Course Hotel to introduce prestigious Chilean wines to Scotland

LUXURY resort, the Old Course Hotel, Golf Resort & Spa, invites you to experience a gourmet extravaganza at an exclusive food and wine pairing event on 15th May 2008, which celebrates the creative union of Chilean wine with delicious Scottish cuisine.

The Old Course Hotel is delighted to be working in exclusive partnership with the Vina Ventisquero winery and is thrilled to welcome chief winemaker, Felipe Tosso Bruna, on his first visit to Scotland, who will personally introduce a selection of his finest wines.

Mark Lindsey, executive chef at the Old Course Hotel, has created an inspiring five-course gourmet menu to accompany the exotic range of wines including Scottish delicacies such as Cured Leg and Braised Belly of Suckling Pig from Ross-shire and Bleu D’Auvergne, Mull Cheddar Cheese.

Vina Ventisquero, a young and innovative winery, has hand-picked five vineyards across renowned Chilean wine territory, which enables pioneering winemaking of the highest quality.

A collection of six wines will be showcased on the evening, including the iconic Pangea – the winery’s premium brand from the Colchagua Valley – that will be introduced to the Scottish market by its chief winemaker for the very first time.

This fabulous wine stands out for its particular complex and encircling aroma maintaining the character of Syrah grapes cultivated in the Apalta Terroir, with notes of red berries and violet harmoniously mingled by spices that come from a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, which is a perfect match for chef Lindsey’s Araguani Chocolate Fondant Pudding.

As well as enjoying its status as a premium brand, Vina Ventisquero is committed to reducing its carbon footprint, being the first Chilean winery to be recognised for offsetting CO2 emissions.

Richard Ellison, Food & Beverage Manager at The Old Course Hotel commented: “This exclusive event is the first of a series of innovative wine dinners that we are introducing to our calendar of events at the Old Course Hotel. I am honoured to welcome Felipe Tosso and am delighted to introduce these prestigious wines to Scotland and the Old Course Hotel.
