Media Release: Glenton adds mini-brochures to cater for festive demand

SCOTTISH holiday operator, Glenton Holidays, has released two new mini-brochures to satisfy customers’ increasing appetite for festive holidays this winter.

The coach tours specialist has seen record sales this year, with summer bookings up by 100 per cent over 2008.

And the continuing trend towards late bookings means that winter sales are growing fast, prompting the operator to add a range of new tours to offer customers.

Glenton’s new Winter Wonderland mini-brochure features eight new tours, including a two-day break to Northumberland to see Stars in Their Eyes grand finalist Gary Ryan with his tribute to the music of Neil Diamond.

This trip to the four-star De Vere Slaley Hall Hotel also includes dinner and transport, and costs just £85.

Also in the mini-brochure is a selection of pre- and post-Christmas tours and Hogmanay holidays, including shopping trips and theatre breaks.

The operator has also released a new mini-brochure of winter breaks for its Good Companions programme aimed at solo travellers.

New additions include a pre-Christmas holiday at the Britannia Hotel in Wolverhampton for four days (£119) and a two-day trip to the De Vere Heron’s Reach in Blackpool (£75).

The operator is also featuring a day trip with coach travel, tea and entrance to the Retirement Show at Glasgow’s SECC, all for just £15.

Commercial director, Steve Turbill, said: “As people get closer to Christmas, we are seeing more and more inquiries as folks want to treat themselves to festive getaway.

“We have seen such a surge in bookings this year we’ve had to open a new call centre here in Glasgow, and are recruiting 20 new staff, thanks to the resilience of our market and the determination of our customers to keep travelling.”

Notes for editors

Glenton Holidays was founded in 2005 by coach industry executives Paul Bennett, Harriet Stamp and Steve Turbill.

Steve and Harriet both came from senior roles in the coach holiday business, and Paul established coaching specialist The UK Holiday Group in 1984.

In just three years, Glenton has become one of Scotland’s fastest-growing coach holiday operators – and the only main coach specialist in Scotland to be a bonded member of ABTA.

Based in Glasgow, it offers coach tours, holidays by air, self-drive holidays and cruises to holidaymakers in Scotland and North East England, plus the ‘Good Companions’ programme for solo travellers.

Glenton’s turnover in 2008 was £5.5m and it aims to carry more than 40,000 passengers in 2009.
