Media Release: Celebrities come out for charity football match

CELEBRITY football team, Dukla Pumpherston, is taking on Victoria Park Legends in a special charity match in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care’s Big Build Appeal.

The famous players include Chick Young, Gerry Collins and actor, Tony Roper, and tickets are now available for what is sure to be a highly-competitive game.

The match will be held at Tinto Park, the home of Benburb Juniors, this Sunday (8th November) with kick-off at 2pm.

Tickets, available in advance or on the gate, are £5 (£3 OAP/children) and all proceeds from the ticket sales will be donated to the Big Build Appeal.

Lorna Johnston, capital appeal fundraiser for the Big Build Appeal, said: “This is a great chance to see some famous players in action while supporting the appeal at this vital stage.

“With less than six months to go until the new hospice opens its doors, we still need to raise £2.2 million so the money raised at the charity match will provide a great boost to our fundraising.

“We hope that football fans across Glasgow will come along on the day and help us build a much-needed new Marie Curie Hospice for Glasgow.”
