Media Release: Stevenson College Edinburgh votes for a positive body image

STEVENSON College Edinburgh, in conjunction with Portofem – an Argentinian fashion company specialising in clothes for women size 16 plus – are running a fashion shoot competition for their photography students and the public can vote for their favourite model on Stevenson’s website.

As well as providing students with experience of fashion photography the aim of the competition is to promote a more positive body image among women of all ages.

Local women from the Edinburgh area with no previous experience, will model Portofem’s clothes at the fashion show and a prize will be awarded to the student for the best photograph. The model with the most votes on the website will win the best model and will feature in Portofem’s new brochure.

The idea of the fashion shoot came about when the founder of Portofem’s daughter, Florencia Levy, was studying Interpreting at Stevenson College Edinburgh and saw the opportunity to work with the college’s award-winning photography department.

Stevenson’s photography students win many awards which this year included the Scottish Press Awards Student Photographer of the Year Award, the student award for advertising in the British Institute of Professional Photographers competition and the judge’s choice in the Association of Photographers competition.
