Media Release: Music professionals required to provide feedback at new talent event

MUSIC students at Stevenson College Edinburgh are showcasing their most promising talent at the Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh on Thursday 29 April and need music professionals to provide feedback on performances.

The organisers have selected a group of promising artists and bands to perform seven minutes of original material and we are looking to secure local music professionals such as radio DJs, music journalists, promoters, producers and music managers to be part of the judging panel.

Viara Ivanova, studying Popular Music at HND level, is one of the organisers of the event and said: “This is a great opportunity for music professionals to use their experience and knowledge to help us pursue a career in music. We genuinely want constructive feedback from independent professionals and consider this an important part of the learning process.”

The first half of the evening will be devoted to the music professionals, performers and the audience discussing the music business.

The second session will feature a performance by three bands and four individual performances by the most promising new talent from Stevenson’s music students.

The event is also an opportunity for solo acts and bands to meet up and network with professionals already working in the business and receive advice.
