Media Release: PSYBT appoint new regional manager in the Borders

THE Prince’s Scottish Youth Business Trust (PSYBT) has appointed Tara Bolland as regional manager in the Borders.

In her new role, Mrs Bolland will support young entrepreneurs aged between 18 – 25 years old who are looking to establish or grow their own businesses. As well as providing advice with business plans, Mrs Bolland will guide young entrepreneurs through the start-up process, help them to secure funding and offer aftercare support to ensure their ongoing business success.

Based at the Business Gateway office in Selkirk, Tara Bolland will also be responsible for supporting the dedicated PSYBT volunteer panel members and aftercare advisers throughout the Borders.

Originally from Belfast in Northern Ireland, Mrs Bolland now lives in Eckford with her husband and nine month-old daughter. For the last six years, she has worked in the North West of England with The Prince’s Trust.

Three of those years were spent in Cheshire helping young people in rural areas become self-employed.

Latterly, she worked on a local pilot programme which aimed to increase young people’s confidence through football/music/drama and then help them into education, training or employment.

During this time, she has also been studying for a Masters degree in Youth Work which she will complete later this year.

Welcoming Tara Bolland to her new role, PSYBT regional chair, Peter Leggate, said: “Tara brings a wealth of experience to the role as well as enthusiasm and a genuine commitment to support young people looking to succeed in business. She will undoubtedly provide a great boost to the young people we support and our volunteers in the Borders.”

To date PSYBT has supported over 11,500 individuals to start almost 10,000 businesses and provided over £34million in funding alongside a whole package of other assistance tailored to the needs of each individual.  Last year PSYBT invested £2million in 681 young people involved in 621 businesses.
