Media Release: Stevenson College celebrates 40 years, with fashion through the ages

ON Thursday 29 April Stevenson College Edinburgh marks its 40th anniversary with a fashion show featuring styles and music from 70’s, 80’s, 90’s, and 00’s in a cross-College project.

Organised by the HNC Events Management students, other contributors include hair, beauty, photography, media and audio visual students. The events students will be assessed on the project which will go towards their HNC award.

The students have successfully sourced clothing, prizes, sponsors and models for the show with all funds raised going to the Forth One Cash for Kids Appeal.

June Wigfield, HNC events lecturer at Stevenson, said:

“We have been overwhelmed by the support from the local busines community especially from retailers at the Gyle Shopping Centre. This is an invaluable exercise for the students in project management as they have to coordinate internal and external contributors making sure the event happens on time and on budget.”

The show will be staged at Stevenson’s Music Box at 5pm and 7pm and Tommy McEwan, fashion presenter of STV’s the Hour, is a special guest at both shows.

Tommy regularly gives fashion and makeover advice to viewers and guests.

Also featuring at the shows are creations from emerging fashion designer, Stacy Graham.

Stacy is currently in her third year of a BA Hons Design and Textile degree at the Glasgow School of Art and will show a variety of her work including designs she created for the Glasgow School of Art Fashion Show a few weeks ago.

To set the scene, a range of retro food will be provided and guests will be able to reminise or taste, for the first time, old favourites like Angel Delight, Apple Martini’s with Marachino Cherries and Twigglets.

Both shows last for one hour and are open to the general public starting at 5pm and 7pm. Included in the ticket price are snacks which will be served from half an hour before each show (i.e. 4.30pm for the 5.00pm show and 6.30pm for the 7.00pm show).

Tickets are priced £5 / £3 for students and are available from The Music Box:
