Media Release: Pulp in a different class with launch of first Aberdeen store

MUSIC-inspired fashion retailer, Pulp, will double its Scottish presence on Saturday 21stAugust with the opening of its first store in Aberdeen.

The new 2,000 sq ft outlet in Aberdeen’s Union Square Shopping Centre will be Pulp’s eighth UK store with another two planned as part of the fledgling retailer’s expansion programme this year.

Says a spokesperson: “Since launching in the same week as the stock market crash of 2008, Pulp has gone from strength to strength and the retailer recently made its debut north of the border with a store in Glasgow’s popular St. Enoch Centre as part of the Centre’s £150M re-development.

“Pulp’s mix of band t-shirts featuring the likes of AC/DC, The Clash, Jimi Hendrix, Kiss and top brands such as Amplified, Iron Fist and Criminal Damage has already proven to be a hit with Glasgow’s music-loving shoppers.

“The brand caters for girls and guys between the ages of 14 and 29 focusing on music and popular culture-inspired clothing, fashion accessories and gifts.”

Co-owner, Ian Hopkins, said: “We have specifically chosen to locate in shopping centres as this allows our stores to remain edgy, whilst also appealing to a more mainstream customer.

“The new Aberdeen store will be our first Scottish store outside of Glasgow’s St. Enoch Centre and will be an exciting addition to the Pulp chain.

“The new outlet will build upon the success we have achieved so far and is part of our overall aim to further expand the brand. Ultimately, we think there’s a market for 50 stores in the UK and possibly Europe.

“Some good retailers came out of the last recession and judging by our success to date, we think Pulp has shown that we have what it takes to keep growing and moving the business forward.”
