Media Release: Fife on show at World Travel Market

FIFE is delighted to be partnering with VisitScotland at this year’s World Travel Market in London’s ExCel from Monday, 8 to Thursday, 11 November.

Begins a spokesperson: “The World Travel Market is the premier global event for the travel industry.

“A vibrant four day business-to-business event, it presents a wide variety of destinations and industry sectors to UK and international travel professionals.

“It is an unique opportunity for the world travel trade to meet, network and conduct business ‘all under one roof’.

“Fife is the only region promoting itself on the Scotland Stand. We will be joined by, amongst others, Edinburgh Woollen Mills, Historic Scotland and Apex Hotels, each offering a taste of visitor experiences which will highlight Scotland’s reputation as a world class tourist destination.”

VisitScotland chair, Dr Mike Cantlay, said: “No-one can deny that it has been a tough year for international tourism.

“We’ve had airline strikes, extreme weather and volcanic ash all set against a turbulent economic climate.

“But tourism is one of the most resilient industries in the world and, from speaking to our business partners, I know we’re all up for the challenges and, more importantly, the opportunities that lie ahead”.

“And there can be few better opportunities than at World Travel Market, where we are positioning the very best of Scotland in front of a captive global audience of buyers, industry insiders and international trade professionals.

“A recent report by Deloitte has valued Scottish tourism as an £11 billion industry but events like this remind us there’s always more potential to be tapped into.”

Fife’s presence on the global tourist stage at the World Travel Market is the forerunner to attending the VisitScotland Expo in April 2011.

We encourage all Fife businesses who would like to be showcased within the Fife Stand at the Expo to get in touch with
