AN Edinburgh information technology company has pledged to slash costs for businesses by offering pay-as-you-go IT contracts in place of fixed fee maintenance agreements.
DATA Computer Services has done away with monthly fees but will still offer service level agreements for all computer problems on a pay as go contract.
Director, Iain Anderson, said changes in the way firms pay for IT services is long overdue and fixed-term contracts, with high monthly payments, unfairly penalise companies which have few IT issues.
Says a spokesperson: “DATA’s PAY AS YOU GO IT package means businesses can make huge savings but still have the confidence of a contracted call-out facility to deal with emergency IT problems.”
Mr Anderson said: “The old model of paying big monthly retainers for IT support is no longer relevant to the market, especially in these cash-strapped times.
“Pay-as-you-go for IT services makes much more economical sense for businesses of all sizes and I believe we are the first to offer this approach to IT servicing.
“We have to be more flexible in how we service clients and we are doing that by offering the same level of service as traditional maintenance contracts but without the high monthly costs.”
DATA are offering a number of introductory deals for clients opting for their PAY AS YOU GO IT package, including a free annual half-day diagnostic service and free support on owner’s personal computers.
