Media Release: Shelter Scotland responds to Scottish Government housing statistics

RESPONDING to housing statistics released by the Scottish Government today, Graeme Brown, director of Shelter Scotland, the housing and homelessness charity, said:

“The housing statistics released by the Scottish Government today are no cause for celebration.

“To focus solely on the number of new council houses built ignores the true picture for families waiting for a home across Scotland.

“The facts are that across all tenures there were fewer affordable homes to rent completed last year than the year before, and there will be fewer still next year due to the Scottish Government’s decision to make a swingeing 35 per cent cut to housing investment.”
