Media Release: Robin Galloway joins Clyde 1

ONE of Scotland’s best-loved radio presenters has today joined the award-winning broadcasting team at Clyde 1.

Begins a spokesperson: “Glasgow and the west’s most-successful commercial station has announced that Robin Galloway will present the popular drive time slot from 2pm today.

“Robin has built up a massive cult following throughout the country after bursting onto the radio scene in his hometown of Aberdeen in 1983.

“The 48 year-old has also launched a series of best-selling CDs, based on his radio wind-ups that have earned him a prestigious Sony Radio Award and a coveted New York Gold Award.”

The spokesperson added: “The popular Scottish radio personality will bring his own unique mix of witty banter, fun and chat to the drive time slot as well as providing listeners in Glasgow and the west with the best hit music, sport, entertainment and travel news to get them home safely every weekday.

“Clyde 1 are delighted to have landed Robin, who will present his first show today as part of an exciting new programme schedule for 2011.

“Current drive time host, Knoxy, is moving to the 10am mid-morning slot while George Bowie and Suzie McGuire will continue presenting their hugely popular breakfast show.”

Robin said: “It’s every DJ’s dream to be on Clyde 1 – the offer to be part of a radio giant was a no brainer. I’m following in the footsteps of legends like Tiger Tim, George Bowie and the original, iconic, Super Scoreboard.

“This is a dream come true for me – it’s like signing for Manchester United. I am so incredibly excited to be joining Glasgow and the West’s undisputed number 1 hit music station. Let the fun begin.”

Tracey McNellan, station director for Radio Clyde, said: “We are delighted to welcome Robin to Clyde 1 and are sure he will be a great success with our listeners during drive time.

“Robin is well-known across Scotland and he is a great addition to our already fantastic team. His appointment also further highlights the ambition of Clyde 1 to secure the greatest talent in Scotland for our audiences.”

Tracey added: “At Clyde 1, our on-going commitment is to create the very best possible entertainment, news, travel and music content for our local marketplaces. This is already proving to be a successful strategy and we are sure that Robin will bring a new dimension to the station that will be welcomed by our listeners.”

Robin Galloway will present the drive time show on Clyde 1 on weekdays from 2pm to 6pm.
