Media Release: Solar storms fear prompts roads recommendation from parcels company

STAFF at a Troon-based parcel delivery service – Parcels Please – are encouraging consumers to opt for courier services that travel by road, rather than air, ahead of scientific findings that suggest the earth is about to be battered by a wave of ‘solar storms’.

With the sun said to be approaching the peak of its solar cycle, scientists believe that blasts of energy-packed particles could play havoc with the internet, mobile phones, GPS and other satellite-reliant technologies.

With this in mind, Scottish parcel delivery experts, Parcels Please, have started doing what they can to raise consumers awareness about the benefits of road-based delivery, should air travel become disrupted by solar storms.

A spokesperson for the company said:

“Air couriers have become increasingly popular in recent years, especially for UK residents looking to send parcels to Europe [http://www.parcelsplease.co.uk/cheapest-parcels-to-europe/] or even to the rest of the globe.

“While space weather is not a new phenomenon, our reliance on satellite-based communication and travel means the global community has become increasingly vulnerable should waves of solar particles hit earth.

“The main concern is the impact to business should air travel become temporarily impossible. Thanks to land-based courier services like Parcels Please however, consumers and businesses needn’t worry about late deliveries as our vans literally ‘keep on trucking’.”
