Media Release: Media calling notice: launch of the Churches Vote Initiative

JOURNALISTS and photographers are invited to the launch of the Churches Vote tomorrow morning, Tuesday March 22, at 11am at the Holyrood Hotel, Salisbury Suite, 81Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AU.

The Churches Vote initiative will inform Christian voters with the intention of creating real debate ahead of the Scottish Elections. Scottish Churches have a passion for the wellbeing of our society and will challenge candidates and voters alike to look beyond personalities and self interest and demand a just society focusing on the dignity of each and every member.

These organizations can together, claim to be representative of the vast majority of the church-going population of Scotland

The event will be chaired by Chloe Clemmons, Scottish Parliamentary Officer.

Those attending the launch will be, the Right Reverend John Christie, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland; Cardinal Keith O’Brien, President, Bishops’ Conference of Scotland; the Most Rev David Chillingworth, Bishop of St Andrews, Dunkeld and Dunblane and Primus of the Scottish Episcopal Church; Rev John Humphreys, Moderator of the National Synod of Scotland United Reformed Church of Scotland; Rev Fred Drummond, National Director for Scotland, the Evangelical Alliance; Rev Alexander MacDonald, Free Church of Scotland; Lt Col Alan Burns, Scotland Secretary of the Salvation Army; Rev Lilly Twist, Chair of the Methodist Synod in Scotland, Methodist Church in Scotland; and Andrew Owen, Senior Pastor of the Destiny Church Network.

Church leaders will be available for interviews.
