Media Release: City financial experts to raise £10k for Shelter Scotland by cycling non-stop from Land’s End to John O’Groats

SIX City financial experts are taking on the gruelling challenge of cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats in a non-stop relay to raise £10,000 for housing and homelessness charity, Shelter Scotland.

The team from award-winning management consultancy Navigant – who work out of Edinburgh and London – hopes to complete the 900-mile route in less than 60 hours with each rider cycling around 150 miles across ten legs.

Setting out on Friday 10th June from Sennen in Penzance, their route takes them via the English Lake District and the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond to John O’Groats on Sunday 12th June.

Navigant will equally match all money raised by the team. The team consists of cyclists, Ewen Fleming, Tim Mitchell, Andy Deeks, Nick Dennis, Chris Gibson and Darren Peel, along with support drivers, Rebecca Drew and David Bonnen.

Ewen Fleming, director of Retail Banking at Navigant, says: “Together we are taking on this challenge because we all support the vital work that Shelter Scotland carries out to help homeless people. We will be doing our utmost to raise at least £10,000 for the cause.

“Our full team consists of six cyclists of various experience and two support drivers. For all but one of us it will be our first LEJOG. I am sure it will be tough but we are in good shape and look forward to this big test of our endurance and stamina.”

Graeme Brown, director of Shelter Scotland, says: “We are very grateful to Ewen and the Navigant team for choosing to raise valuable funds for Shelter Scotland. We thank them for their support and generosity and wish them all the best on this exciting and gruelling challenge.”
